I really just love the people I work with; it’s that simple. Like the rest of Breaktime, the team is easy-going and friendly with a general attitude of camaraderie. We constantly push each other to broaden our horizons and learn, which is not just important in my role, but in the industry in general, in my opinion.
The most unique part about my role at Breaktime Media is...
I’m incredibly lucky to work on our products - Im not sure if people realize how utterly distinct we are from anything else. To be doing something that’s doing something interesting in the marketing space, and to be using state-of-the-art web technology to do it? In the experience I’ve had in my career, that’s pretty darn unique.
My favorite development tool is...
I imagine people typically cite software here, but I can’t live without my 1997 Apple Extended Keyboard. It’s not just a well-made piece of equipment, but it’s got that added 90s-era nostalgia aesthetic-factor. I had to learn some interesting hardware hacks in order to get it to work with modern computers (USB).
If I were trapped on a deserted island, three items I would bring with me would be...
A precision-machined granite slab: Everything fun about industrial technology starts with accurate, flat surfaces, but in order to create flat surfaces, you need a flat surface. My Kindle: Just in case I get bored while presumably fighting for my life outside the boundaries of civilization. Really any e-reader is fine by me; I like physical books, too, but in honor of the “three items” limit, I can get the best bang for my buck here. A Flare Gun: I don’t know a whole lot about emergency life boat equipment requisition but I imagine this is likely the first item. I’m an internet nerd - I don’t see my chances of desert island survival as that good, so I’m hoping I’m near shipping lanes and can shoot that thing up to signal to passing ships.
The one thing I've never tried, but want to do is...
Get a flying license. This is entirely because I keep seeing great Tiktoks where people fly cross-country in their cute vintage planes. I’ll do it eventually.
On the weekends you can find me...
Either soldering something together at home or riding my bike out in the dangerous miasma of traffic that is Boston’s suburbs.
